Pick a Place to Live

Living in Oxnard is popular for both new hires and experienced employees alike as there are many housing options that offer a short commute time while still having lots to do. The city of around 200,000 borders the Pacific Ocean on the west and the 101 Freeway to the east. Beaches and marinas dot the coastline and with the water nearby, the ocean breeze keeps the communities it contains cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than those further inland.

Located around 9 miles from the plant and 15 minutes commuting time, Ventura is popular with many new hires with its vibrant restaurant scene and prevalent nightlife. Ventura, officially known as the City of San Buenaventura, is home to around 100,000 people and is located just to the north of Oxnard. Similarly to the city of Oxnard, the areas proximity to the Pacific Ocean keeps its summers cooler and winters warmer than those further inland. Ventura is also home to the famed surfing spot known as Surfer’s Point at Ventura County Fairgrounds.

Camarillo & Thousand Oaks are both popular living destinations for new hires or transferees with families to the Oxnard Plant. They both offer manageable commute times with Camarillo being located just 7 miles away and Thousand Oaks 20 miles due to their close proximity to the 101 Freeway. Employees with families can also take advantage of the wonderful schools these communities offer. With populations of over 65,000 for Camarillo and 125,000 for Thousand Oaks, they still offer plenty of restaurants, housing options, and activities. With their locations inland from the Pacific Ocean, temperatures tend to be warmer (but not too hot) in the summer than their Oxnard & Ventura counterparts.
